Pensions and Benefits Under Attack Next Event

The New Jersey Policeman's Benevolent Association was formed on September 29, 1896 when law enforcement officers from Elizabeth, Hoboken, Jersey City, Newark, and Paterson met for the first time in Feist's Hall in Patterson, NJ. The first president was William F. Keefe of Patterson, who decided that something needed to be done to improve salaries, working conditions, job security, and pensions.

Since then, the NJ State PBA has grown from a social organization into a union of more than 33,000 municipal, county, state, and federal law enforcement officers.
